AWFP is a nonprofit organization run by student volunteers at the VMCVM, founded in 2004. Our goal is to save dogs by pulling them from overcrowded shelters where they are at risk of being euthanized due to limited space. We bring dogs into loving foster homes where they learn how to be in a home again without the stress of a shelter, before joining their furever homes. We are all students at the vet school so we may not get back to you right away but we do our best!

I am an uprising 3rd year student at VMCVM, and I plan on tracking small animal with an interest in emergency medicine and rehabilitation. At home, I worked at a small animal practice and volunteered at my local animal shelter for four years. Volunteering at an animal shelter was such an amazing experience. It is where I met my dogs and got to help others come out of their shell / find their furever homes. So, joining AWFP was a no brainer for me. In any spare time that I can find, I love to go hiking and exploring local coffee shops!
